Railway circulation suspended on the Douro Line until March

Train services between Marco de Canaveses and Régua will be replaced by buses starting Tuesday due to modernization works on the Douro Line, which will be suspended until March 24, 2027. The project, costing 110 million euros, aims to electrify the 47-kilometer stretch. Bus services will operate directly between Caíde and Régua, with stops at various stations. The works are scheduled during winter to minimize disruption, as this is a low-demand period for rail travel. The electrification project is expected to take three years, with multiple service interruptions planned.
