Keys to the new 2 euro fee for Shein, Temu, and AliExpress: this is how the surcharge on non-EU online purchases works
Starting November 1, 2026, the EU will implement a fixed fee of two euros on online purchases from outside the bloc. This measure aims to manage the influx of low-value packages, primarily from China, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The fee applies per item category within a package, not per package. E-commerce platforms are responsible for paying the fee, but they may pass costs to consumers. The initiative is supported by consumer organizations to enhance safety and reduce impulsive buying. The revenue will fund customs controls and inspections, addressing the growing number of unsafe products entering the EU.
