Coimbra negotiates barracks of the Lanceiros for housing

The Coimbra City Council aims to acquire the former Lanceiros Squadron barracks for affordable housing. Mayor Ana Abrunhosa emphasized the need for accessible housing, noting that much of the private sector's offerings are unaffordable for many families. Discussions with Estamo, the public company managing state real estate, have begun to facilitate this acquisition. The barracks, located between Rua de Aveiro and Rua de Sofia, is deemed suitable for housing development. Additionally, the possibility of relocating the PJ's new headquarters has been ruled out due to logistical concerns, prompting the search for alternative solutions for the police.
