E-commerce can boost Lusophone sales to China, according to the Secretary-General of the Macau Forum

The Secretary-General of the Macau Forum, Ji Xianzheng, highlighted the potential of e-commerce to boost exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to China, which have already seen a 22.1% increase this year. He encouraged these countries to leverage internet technologies to overcome physical barriers. The Brazilian analyst Renato Borges Ferreira Tomé emphasized the need for Brazil to diversify its exports beyond commodities like iron ore and soy, suggesting e-commerce as a means to promote small businesses and higher value-added products. Ji also announced that the seventh Ministerial Conference of the Macau Forum is planned for 2027, focusing on economic cooperation among Portuguese-speaking nations.
