Committees suspended during OE2027 debate
The plenary session approved the suspension of the permanent committees of the Assembly of the Republic and the inquiry into rural fire management during the discussion of the 2027 State Budget. This suspension will last from October 23 to December 1, 2026, to allow deputies to focus on the budget proposal. The decision faced opposition from Chega and the Liberal Initiative, while other parties supported it. A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to determine if the inquiry committee will continue its work or also suspend for about a month. Additionally, the Assembly approved a resolution to suspend the work of 15 permanent committees until the final vote on the budget, allowing for urgent matters to be addressed as needed.
