"Merchants, women, children... they spared no one": more than 150 civilians killed in a drone strike at the border between Sudan and South Sudan
On October 19, a bombing in Abyei, a disputed region between Sudan and South Sudan, resulted in significant casualties. Witnesses reported chaos as missiles struck fuel depots, leading to at least 153 deaths, primarily Sudanese nationals. The local administrator noted the difficulty in identifying victims due to severe burns. The area has been a point of contention since South Sudan's secession in 2011, and a UN peacekeeping mission has been present since then.
