Consumer confidence in France falls in October to its lowest level since 2013
Consumer confidence in France has dropped to its lowest level since June 2013, according to INSEE. The confidence indicator fell to 80 points in October, five points lower than in September, significantly below the long-term average of 100 points. This decline is attributed to respondents' negative perceptions of their current and future financial situations. Additionally, fewer families believe it is a good time for major purchases, diverging from the long-term average. Although the percentage of those who think it's time to save decreased, it remains above the long-term average. These findings come amid ongoing protests against rising living costs and school conditions, highlighting France's delicate financial situation with increasing public debt and market pressures.
