French Council of State prohibits the route of the demonstration this Saturday in Paris
The French Council of State has banned the planned protest route in Paris due to public order concerns. The demonstration, organized by unions, was set to occur on October 31, aiming to address rising living costs and public service degradation. The Paris Police Prefecture proposed an alternative route, which was initially annulled by an administrative court. Following this, the Interior Minister appealed to the Council of State, which sided with the government. In response, student unions criticized the ban as an obstacle to the right to protest. Authorities are also concerned about potential violence linked to far-right groups and have imposed a curfew in certain areas, deploying 70,000 police nationwide to maintain order during the weekend.
