Less and less space in cemeteries. Cities are looking for new solutions

Polish cities are adapting to decreasing cemetery space by exploring alternative burial methods and planning new cemeteries. Lublin is set to build a new cemetery in Sławin, with 120,000 burial spots and a memory forest. Meanwhile, Augustów is developing its first municipal cemetery, expected to open by winter 2027. Other cities like Chrzanów and Wieliczka are expanding their columbarium facilities to accommodate growing demand. Poznań, while not planning new cemeteries, is focusing on utilizing unpaid graves to manage space effectively.
