Corrupt foreign officials should face EU visa-bans and asset-freezes, MEPs and Estonia say

Activists and MEPs are advocating for EU visa bans and asset freezes on corrupt foreign officials, supported by Estonia. They propose adding individuals guilty of serious corruption to the EU's existing human rights blacklist. Currently, the EU lacks corruption as a criterion for inclusion, unlike allies such as the US and Canada, creating a loophole that allows sanctioned officials to exploit EU systems. The proposed measure is seen as both morally and strategically beneficial by MEP Michał Kamiński.
