Cruise ship that was supposed to sail 'forever' stranded in Cambodia due to high fuel prices

The luxury cruise ship Villa Vie Odyssey, on a perpetual world journey, has run aground off Cambodia due to high fuel costs. The company stated that monthly costs per cabin surged from €1,600 to €7,000, making it unrealistic to pass these increases onto passengers. Approximately 200 passengers were informed they must disembark in Sihanoukville. The ship had been conserving fuel by staying longer in ports and traveling at reduced speeds. Many residents, who had no homes on land, are now affected, and the company has promised to assist them in finding alternative housing. The ship, over 30 years old, had previously faced delays due to technical issues and is now exploring options for a restart.
