Sugar is getting more expensive again. Poles will feel it in stores as early as next year

Sugar futures on the ICE Futures exchange in London have risen to $550 per ton, recovering from a low of $396 earlier this year. The increase is attributed to reduced production in Europe and Brazil's shift towards bioethanol production due to rising fuel prices. Analysts expect wholesale sugar prices in Poland to rise, influenced by global market pressures and anticipated lower production in Thailand and India. The Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza, a major Polish sugar producer, is projected to improve its financial results this year after reporting significant losses previously. Global sugar consumption has reached a record 180 million tons, while adverse weather conditions have impacted production in key regions like France and Brazil. India has allowed duty-free imports of sugar to stabilize domestic prices, while also restricting sugar use for ethanol production to protect its resources.
