Diabetes in Poland. Prof. Leszek Czupryniak warns: More and more patients, fewer and fewer clinics
Prof. Leszek Czupryniak highlighted the increasing difficulties patients face in accessing state diabetes care in Poland, citing a trend of closing diabetes clinics and insufficient funding. He noted that the number of diabetes patients is rising while the reimbursement rates for treatments have not changed, leading to financial strain on healthcare providers. Czupryniak emphasized that the actual costs of diabetes care, such as treating diabetic foot syndrome, exceed the current reimbursement rates. He argued that improving the valuation of diabetes services could alleviate healthcare issues and reduce complications like amputations and kidney failure.
