Cyberattacks on food in Europe. EC convenes urgent meetings
This morning, two meetings took place involving EU agencies and member states to address recent cyberattacks. The first meeting included representatives from ENISA, Europol, and the European Commission, while the second gathered member states affected by the attacks. The aim is to share information and coordinate a response, emphasizing that the issue affects multiple EU countries. Brussels is also assessing the preparedness of European supply chains for similar incidents. Commissioner Christophe Hansen highlighted the importance of food supply chain resilience for food security in Europe. The Commission reiterated existing tools for combating cyberattacks and plans to enhance cooperation with member states. However, no perpetrators have been identified as investigations are ongoing at the national level. Brussels warns that these cyberattacks are not isolated incidents and can disrupt essential services and impact citizens' daily lives.
