Czech MEP Markéta Gregorová stopped at Chinese border in ‘pseudo-scare tactics’
Czech MEP Markéta Gregorová reported being detained for 1.5 hours in Beijing, describing it as intimidation related to a Chinese national's arrest for espionage. She was the only one among 15 EU officials to encounter such issues at the airport. Despite showing her diplomatic passport and invitation, she faced intense questioning from Chinese authorities. Gregorová, a critic of the Chinese Communist Party and vice-chair of the European Parliament’s China group, was in Beijing for trade discussions. During her detention, she was reportedly prohibited from using her phone and had her passport taken away.
