Red alerts in Greece. Events for the national holiday have been canceled
The Greek meteorological agency HNMS issued severe weather warnings for mainland Greece and the Aegean islands, particularly in Thessaly and the Northern Sporades. Up to 80 liters of rain per square meter may fall within 12 hours, raising flood risks and potential evacuations. National holiday celebrations on October 28 have been affected, with some events canceled due to adverse weather. Governor Dimitris Kouretas canceled student parades in high-risk areas, and military celebrations in Volos are also uncertain. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 70 km/h in the northern Aegean, with temperatures dropping in western and southern Greece.
