Dakar2026. Sofia Gaspar and Alexandre Gaspar will be the flag bearers for Portugal

Sofia Gaspar and Alexandre Gaspar will represent Portugal as flag bearers at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games opening ceremony. Sofia, a 16-year-old judoka who won a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships, will be the first woman to carry the flag. Alexandre, captain of the futsal team, joins her in this role. The ceremony, themed "Africa welcomes, Dakar celebrates," will highlight African identity and global youth inclusion. Portugal is sending 25 athletes to compete in the event, which runs from today until November 13, with approximately 2,700 athletes participating.
