From the archive to the theater, when the French administration confronts its anti-Semitic past

On December 16, 1940, Julienne Laveissière requested a verbatim record during a meeting about the exclusion of Jews from public service in Vichy France. This request led to the preservation of a significant document, discovered by historian Marc Olivier Baruch in 1993. The verbatim was later adapted into a play titled "Jouer l’archive," which explores the bureaucratic coldness of the Vichy regime. The play has been performed in various educational and governmental settings, prompting reflections on the moral dilemmas faced by contemporary officials in light of historical injustices.
