Part of Gelderland to get connection stop on power grid, Utrecht stop to be extended
A power connection stop in Gelderland affects sixteen municipalities, limiting new connections for businesses and households until at least July 1 next year. This is the second such measure in the Netherlands after Utrecht. The stop applies retroactively to applications received after July 1 this year. While housing projects can proceed, a waiting list has been implemented for all Dutch network operators since July, prioritizing applicants with societal importance to prevent grid overload. The growing issue of net congestion is due to increased electricity consumption and generation from renewable sources, causing delays for many large projects.
