Decriminalization of abortion. The Sejm voted "in favor". The second project was also adopted
The Polish Sejm approved a partial decriminalization of abortion with women's consent, with 217 votes in favor and 213 against. The amendment will now go to the Senate. The proposal, initiated by the Left and Civic Coalition, aims to amend the Penal Code regarding abortion regulations. It includes the repeal of penalties for women terminating pregnancies and those assisting them under certain conditions. Additionally, a law allowing abortion in cases of severe fetal defects was also passed, reversing a previous Constitutional Tribunal ruling that deemed this condition unconstitutional. This marks another attempt at abortion law reform in the current Sejm term.
