Denderleeuw no longer turns off street lighting at night, but dims it instead
Denderleeuw will no longer turn off streetlights at night but will dim them instead. The lighting in the station area and three village centers will remain fully lit throughout the night. This change, effective with the winter time shift, aims to balance energy savings with residents' requests for nighttime lighting. The municipality previously turned off lights from midnight to 5 AM during the energy crisis but has since invested in LED lighting, with over 70% of public lights now energy-efficient. This allows for dimmed lighting while still addressing climate goals and community concerns.
