Denmark is unhappy about the Finnish-Norwegian call to Putin: 'Was not coordinated'

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a call ahead of upcoming negotiations in Abu Dhabi. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the meeting involving negotiators from Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. Stubb described his conversation with Putin as "honest and engaging," emphasizing the war's impact on European security. However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed skepticism about the call, stating it was not agreed upon with European allies and criticizing the lack of constructive engagement from Russia since the 2022 invasion. She stressed the importance of European unity and questioned the intentions of Stubb and Støre in reaching out to Moscow.
