Denmark stops breeding minks for fur: "It is not enough that an industry is old to keep it"
Denmark will ban mink farming for fur starting in 2029, following the EU's decision to prohibit mink keeping and fur sales by 2027. The current Danish government will not seek exemptions for the industry, emphasizing the need for practices to align with societal and economic values. This decision affects the remaining seven mink farms in Denmark, which previously sought to maintain operations. The EU's move follows the classification of the American mink as an invasive species. Several European countries, including Belgium and Poland, have already implemented bans on mink farming.
