Depression: Gender inequality is at the root of women's vulnerability
In France, depressive disorders are more prevalent in women (18.2%) than in men (12.8%). The High Council for Gender Equality investigated this disparity, presenting a report that attributes the higher risk of depression in women to societal factors rather than inherent vulnerability. The report highlights that the differences in mental health begin in childhood, particularly around puberty, indicating that societal conditions contribute significantly to these inequalities.
