Cyberattacks on refrigerators and freezers target several supermarkets in Europe

On November 2, the ICA Kvantum supermarket in Sjöbo, Sweden, was closed due to a cyberattack that compromised its refrigeration systems. Hackers remotely adjusted temperatures to 50 degrees, leading to spoiled products. This incident follows a series of cyberattacks affecting nearly 700 stores in France earlier in October, with similar attacks reported across several European countries including Finland, Estonia, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Ireland. European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen, expressed serious concerns about these repeated attacks, highlighting their potential to disrupt food supply chains and undermine consumer trust.
