Glória elevator derailment. Fidelidade denies refusing compensation to victims and families
Fidelidade, the insurer for Carris, denied refusing compensation to victims of the Glória elevator accident in Lisbon. The company expressed regret over certain legal expressions that may have caused additional suffering. They clarified that their contestation regarding a €125,000 claim for a death was based on the high amount relative to the value of human life. Fidelidade emphasized its commitment to fair compensation, stating it has already covered around €2.5 million in related expenses. Agreements have been reached with some families, while others are still in negotiation or awaiting documentation. The insurer highlighted that media exposure should not influence compensation amounts, maintaining that fairness must prevail in assessing claims.
