Unemployment in Spain rises to 10.18% in the third quarter

Spain's unemployment rate rose to 10.18% in Q3, up from 9.87% in the previous quarter, according to the National Statistics Institute. This increase coincided with a rise in the active population by 169,500, reaching a record of 25.44 million. The number of employed individuals also grew by 73,600, while unemployment increased by 95,900. The data reflects the impact of an immigration regularization process, with 75,400 more foreign workers. The Spanish government forecasts a 2.6% economic growth this year and aims to reduce the unemployment rate below 10% sustainably, projecting it to drop to 9.9% by 2026 and 8.5% by 2029. Economic growth is expected to be supported by domestic demand in the coming years.
