Dessel closes public toilets in the evening after repeated vandalism: "Swastikas and toilets set on fire"

The local government of Dessel has adjusted the opening hours of public toilets at the old town hall due to repeated vandalism. Previously accessible at all times, the toilets will now only be open during the day. Public Works Alderman Herman Minnen (N-VA) noted that this is not the first instance of vandalism, with previous incidents including graffiti and arson. The toilets will now be open Monday to Wednesday from 8 AM to 4 PM, Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM, and Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM, remaining closed on weekends. The measure is temporary as the municipality aims to repair the damage and reduce costs associated with vandalism. Minnen emphasized the importance of accessible public toilets for the community and urged vandals to cease their actions.
