Parents arrested on suspicion of mistreating their 3-year-old son

The parents of a three-year-old boy were arrested in Vendas Novas, Évora, on suspicion of physical, psychological, and mental abuse. The Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the suspects, a 32-year-old Portuguese woman and a 30-year-old foreign man, are charged with aggravated domestic violence against their child. Allegations indicate that the abuse occurred repeatedly since at least May 2025. Following their initial court appearance, the suspects were prohibited from contacting the victim and witnesses, and their parental responsibilities were suspended. The child has been placed in safe custody as part of urgent protective measures. The investigation continues under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
