Animal caretaker at Beekse Bergen dies after panther attack

A female zookeeper was severely injured in an attack by two male Persian panthers while working at Beekse Bergen. She sustained neck and head injuries and underwent surgery, but her chances of recovery are reported to be very slim. The zookeeper had nearly forty years of experience at the park, starting at age seventeen. Normally, zookeepers do not work with predators in the same enclosure, but she was following protocol. The exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear, as there are no cameras in the enclosure. The Dutch Labor Inspectorate is investigating the matter, while the panthers continue to be cared for according to existing guidelines.
