Income from prostitution must be taxed. A Czech court has decided.

The Constitutional Court's ruling concludes a long legal battle regarding taxation of income from voluntary prostitution. Judge Jirzi Przibań emphasized that taxation applies to actual income and asset growth, not the moral evaluation of how it was obtained. The court rejected the argument that taxing prostitution makes the state a pimp, stating that the goal is fair tax burden distribution and market regulation. Taxing sexual services could enhance the social standing of sex workers. In contrast, Poland has different laws where voluntary prostitution is not a crime, and income from it is not taxed under current regulations.
