House-UFO. An icon of futuristic architecture from the 1960s is up for sale

The Donaldson Futuro, a unique yellow house designed by Matti Suuronen in the 1960s, is now for sale in California. This iconic structure, resembling a flying saucer, showcases innovative design and materials from its era. Currently owned by Milford Wayne Donaldson, an architect specializing in historic preservation, the house has been meticulously restored and is listed for nearly $1.5 million. With a diameter of about 8 meters and a height of 4 meters, it features vibrant interiors and was recognized as a protected landmark in 2021. Despite its futuristic design, the Futuro faced challenges in gaining popularity due to traditional architectural preferences and the 1973 oil crisis.
