"The availability of space is the availability of toilets". And what if the need catches us in the cemetery?

The need for accessible public toilets, especially in cemeteries, is highlighted by urban planner Magdalena Milert. She emphasizes the importance of considering the elderly and disabled when designing urban spaces. Recent initiatives in Krakow aim to improve toilet accessibility in cemeteries, with plans for new facilities by 2027. However, the current portable toilets often lack adequate space and lighting, making them unsuitable for many users. Milert argues that public toilets should be available in various public spaces, including libraries and churches, as society ages and demands better accessibility. She notes that awareness of this issue is growing, leading to gradual improvements in public sanitation facilities.
