Lifetime ban on working for NFZ. NIL spokesperson warns against unilateral decision

On Thursday, the Polish Sejm passed an amendment regarding salary limits and working hours for medical professionals, introducing a maximum hourly rate of approximately 240 PLN and monthly earnings of 76,900 PLN. The amendment allows the president of the National Health Fund (NFZ) to temporarily exclude a doctor from the public system, with the possibility of a lifetime ban for repeated violations. Piotr Pisula, spokesperson for the Supreme Medical Chamber, acknowledged the rationale behind the proposal but emphasized the need for clear criteria for exclusion. He raised concerns about the decision-making power being concentrated in one individual and the potential for new evidence to alter exclusion decisions. Pisula also questioned the fairness of permanent exclusion without the possibility of reinstatement after a period of good conduct.
