Three weeks after the hack of French coolers, numerous installations still appear to be just as vulnerable
Three weeks after a cyberattack on cooling systems in French supermarkets, hackers have struck again, affecting installations across Europe. The attacks led to significant food loss as temperatures in freezers were raised dangerously high. In Belgium, numerous supermarkets were impacted, while in the Netherlands, at least seventeen systems were compromised. The manufacturer Danfoss indicated that many affected organizations ignored security advice provided after the initial attacks. Despite some improvements in securing systems, vulnerabilities remain widespread. The motives behind these attacks are unclear, with speculation about potential copycat actions rather than financial gain. The European Commissioner for Food Supply described the attacks as a deliberate attempt to disrupt the EU's food supply.
