Second life of old asphalt. Polish scientists will create the roads of the future
Nearly 50 researchers from Lublin, Poznań, and Gdańsk universities are developing a new road construction material that incorporates recycled asphalt. Funded by European grants, the project exceeds 11.5 million PLN. The aim is to reuse asphalt from old roads and create a technology applicable in the road industry. The team is focusing on innovative components to enhance the properties of recycled asphalt, including waste materials and biopolymers. This approach aims to reduce waste and the need for new resources while improving the durability and flexibility of road surfaces. The technology is expected to be ready for industrial application within three years, promising a tougher, cheaper, and more eco-friendly road surface.
