Two public schools from the north among the best in the 6th year MOdA tests
Two public schools from northern Portugal excelled in the national 6th-grade assessments in Portuguese and Mathematics, outperforming many private institutions. The Escola Básica n.º 1 de Eiriz ranked second in Mathematics, while the Escola Básica n.º 2 do Viso achieved the top score in Portuguese. Despite private schools dominating the overall rankings, these public schools demonstrated strong performances, particularly in the northern region, where students generally showed better results. The Ministry of Education's report highlighted ongoing challenges in writing skills among students, with many not reaching the expected proficiency levels. Overall, there was a slight improvement in scores compared to previous years, but writing remains a critical area for educational focus.
