Diver cleans sewer pipe under Hasselt's Molenpoort for 12 days

A diver will clean grease from the sewer under Molenpoort in Hasselt using a high-pressure cleaner for 12 days. The sewer is severely clogged, requiring manual clearing by Fluvius. All wastewater will be pumped through temporary above-ground pipes. This is the first time such a method is used. The sewer has been problematic for a while, with previous inspections revealing significant grease buildup and debris. The diameter of the pipe is only 40 cm instead of the required 1.7 m, likely due to malfunctioning grease separators from local restaurants. A specialized contractor will perform the cleaning under challenging conditions, and the process may be delayed by heavy rain.
