Dutch police offer record €2m reward in hunt for drug lord

Dutch authorities have announced a record €2 million reward for information leading to the arrest of drug lord Jos Leijdekkers, also known as Bolle Jos. He is considered a major figure in international cocaine trafficking and is listed among Europol's most-wanted fugitives. Justice Minister David van Weel emphasized the threat Leijdekkers poses to national security and the rule of law. Currently believed to be in Sierra Leone under the alias Omar Sherrif, he has been sentenced to 24 years in absentia in the Netherlands and 79 years in Belgium for drug-related offenses. Efforts for his extradition have been complicated by Sierra Leone's refusal to cooperate, leading to reduced EU aid to the country.
