Two-thirds of people do not want Czech Television and Czech Radio under state control, a survey says

Employees of Czech Television and Czech Radio are concerned about media independence due to the cancellation of fee systems, leading to a planned strike. A survey indicates that 68% of people believe public service media should remain independent from state or private control. While 54% prefer funding to come from the state budget, only 23% support immediate changes to the law. Nearly half of respondents feel the government coalition is not adequately explaining proposed changes and their impacts. Support for protests in favor of public media is notably higher among opposition voters and younger individuals, while government supporters show significant dissent. The survey was conducted by STEM/MARK with 814 respondents.
