They called the victims, posing as bank and police employees. The indictment is already in court.
Five individuals have been charged in Katowice for their involvement in a criminal group conducting fraud through impersonation as bank employees and police officers. The accused, aged 19 to 28, are Ukrainian citizens, and their actions have resulted in losses exceeding one million zlotys. The investigation began with the arrest of a 22-year-old Ukrainian in April 2026, who was collecting cash from a victim. The gang operated since February 2026, using spoofing techniques to deceive victims into believing their bank accounts were at risk. They executed 18 frauds across several Polish regions, employing psychological pressure to extract money and personal information. Most members are currently in custody, facing severe penalties if convicted, with the trial set to take place in the Katowice District Court.
