E40 in Heverlee already open after work on new bicycle bridge: "But next weekend the highway will close again"

The E40 in Heverlee reopened earlier than expected after works on a new bicycle bridge. However, the highway will close again next weekend for the installation of ten heavy cables. The project faced delays due to waiting for essential parts, but the installation of a 36-meter mast went smoothly. The bridge is part of the F29 cycling route connecting Brussels to Leuven and is expected to be completed by 2027, with additional work needed for vibration dampers.
