"In this situation, we had no other choice" – Péter Magyar reacted to the dismissal of Botond Feledy
Feledy Botond was dismissed from his position as head of the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs due to a loss of trust linked to undisclosed contracts with the previous government. The announcement was made unexpectedly by György László Velkey, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Feledy had received over 84 million HUF from the ministry through contracts, which he justified as necessary for producing realistic analyses. Péter Magyar, the Prime Minister, emphasized the importance of transparency and stated that anyone in a leadership position must disclose such financial ties. He also noted that the ministry is not responsible for investigating contracts unless they are publicly tendered. Magyar promised that similar cases would lead to the same consequences, reinforcing the commitment to transparency in governance.
