Ebola: Africa faces a "more complex" situation after the spread of the virus to Nigeria, warns the regional director of WHO
The World Health Organization reported a complex Ebola outbreak situation in Nigeria, confirming an imported case from Uganda. Authorities identified 44 contacts linked to the diplomat who tested positive for the Bundibugyo strain, which is also affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Nigeria is the fourth African nation this year to report this strain, following a previous outbreak in 2014. The DRC is currently experiencing its deadliest Ebola epidemic, with over 4,300 deaths since May. Neighboring countries like Uganda and Kenya have also reported cases, prompting calls for international mobilization against this serious threat.
