Ebola: Nigeria announces first case and goes into 'maximum alert'
Nigeria has reported its first Ebola case in Abuja, involving a woman who arrived from Uganda. The government has urged all health facilities to be on high alert. The Democratic Republic of Congo is experiencing a severe Ebola outbreak with over 9,000 cases and 4,381 deaths. Nigerian health officials have identified 44 close contacts of the infected patient and are monitoring potential exposures. Kenya has also reported nine cases since early October, linked to a Kenyan who died after contracting the virus in Congo.
