Ebola vaccine trial begins in DR Congo

The first clinical trial for an Ebola vaccine in the Democratic Republic of Congo commenced on October 23, amid a severe outbreak. The outbreak has surpassed 9,700 cases and over 4,600 deaths. The trial will assess the Ervebo vaccine's effectiveness against the Bundibugyo strain. WHO's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the start of the Tumaini trial, which aims to evaluate various vaccine candidates. The trial will also include two specific vaccines for Bundibugyo, one from the University of Oxford and another from Moderna.
