First Ebola infection in Nigeria since new outbreak in Africa
Health authorities in Nigeria have confirmed an Ebola case in Abuja, marking the first occurrence since the recent outbreak in Central Africa. The patient, a woman who had traveled from Uganda, is currently in isolation and receiving care. Contact tracing has identified 44 individuals who had contact with her. The outbreak primarily affects the Democratic Republic of Congo, with over 9,500 cases and more than 4,600 deaths reported since mid-May. Ebola is highly contagious and has a high mortality rate, with severe symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding.
