"Eternal" world trip of American cruise ship stranded in Cambodia, several residents homeless

The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship, which promised passengers an eternal journey, has stranded off Cambodia due to rising fuel costs. Passengers, some of whom have no other homes, were forced to disembark in Sihanoukville. Monthly costs for cabins surged from €1,600 to €7,000, making it unsustainable for the cruise line to pass on the full increase to residents. Approximately 200 passengers were affected, with some having made the ship their permanent residence. The cruise line is exploring options to resume the journey, which initially promised visits to 425 ports across 147 countries every 3.5 years.
