They fired the coach a day before their Champions League match

The Portuguese club has won six out of ten matches but is nine points behind in the title race. Despite victories in the Champions League against teams like Galatasaray and Lens, they suffered a home defeat to Linz. Consequently, Rui Borges was dismissed from his coaching position, which surprised many as the announcement came just a day before a match against Shakhtar Donetsk. Tiago Fernandes, the reserve team coach, will take charge for that game. The club has already identified Paulo Fonseca, currently managing Lyon, as Borges's successor, who has informed his players about the move.
