The Council of Ministers approves a shield of economic aid of 30 million euros for the victims of the railway accident in Urda (Toledo)
The Spanish government has approved 30 million euros in immediate aid for victims of the Urda train accident, which resulted in 69 fatalities. This financial support mirrors previous compensation schemes from similar incidents, ensuring non-repayable aid for victims' families and injured individuals. The aid includes 15 million euros for urgent assistance and 15 million for advance payments. Workers affected will have their absences classified as work-related accidents, allowing them to receive appropriate benefits. The government aims to expedite support without requiring prior applications from victims, ensuring retroactive effects for recognized benefits. This initiative follows a similar framework established after the Adamuz and Gelida accidents, emphasizing the urgency of assistance amid rising transport costs.
